Dax is 2 months old!

Time flies when you are having fun!! Daxton is now nine weeks old and is growing like a sprout!! As of today he weighs 13 pounds and 2 ounces and has grown to 22 inches, meaning he is in the 80th percentile for weight and the 25th for height (his head circumference is in the 75th percentile.) His legs are getting so chubby and his double chin is almost a triple chin! I love it! Dax smiles so much these days and is a very happy little boy. He loves to smile, coo, squeal, and gurgle at everyone who talks to him and even at inanimate objects (such as the animals on his mobiles and bright lights.) He is the most entertaining thing in my life right now and I love spending all day hanging out with him. He is on the verge of both giggling and rolling over (he can roll on his side) and is able to push his chest off of the ground when he's having some "tummy time" and completely support his noggin. I enjoy walking with him around our neighborhood as much as possible (we try to go everyday) and tonight we even went rollerblading with some girls from work, although Dax slept through the whole experience.
This is a picture of Dax and I at one of our friends' daughter's baseball game. He loves hanging out in his carrier because he loves being held facing outward so that he can see everything.

Other exciting news: Ryan and I have scheduled our wedding for October 2nd, 2010 at the Rose River Reception in Blackfoot, ID. The venue is gorgeous and I can't wait to get married there with all of my family and friends! Dax is going to be a big part of the event and I'm looking forward to involving him in the process.

I Love It When You Smile

Mornings are one of my favorite times to spend with Dax, especially right after we wake up and I change him out of his pajamas and into his outfit for the day. He always wakes up in a good mood and flashes me the greatest smiles as I talk to him and undress/dress him. He enjoys being naked now, although he originally hated it. Sometimes I even let him hang out in his diaper until his nap around 10:00 A.M. Reaching this milestone made me so happy, it's nice to know that he is actually smiling in response to me instead of in response to gas. Other than smiling in response to people, Dax smiles at the jungle mobile above his vibrating bouncer and the frog mobile above his crib. His favorite animals on the jungle mobile are a spotted giraffe and bright orange lion, he doesn't care much for the gray elephant yet. Whenever the lion or giraffe pass above his head he will coo or scream at them and kick his legs super fast, it's the most adorable thing! I could, and do, spend all day just watching him.

Daxton=1 month

Yesterday was Daxton's one month mark! It's crazy to think that it has already been that long, each day has passed by so fast! I'm thoroughly enjoying my time with him! His personality is continuing to develop and we are having so much fun getting to know him. Ryan and I think he is the funniest thing ever and he makes us laugh often with his silly faces and sounds! He is also getting stronger and we are so impressed with how well he can hold up his head.
At Daxton's doctor appointment last week we learned that both his head size and weight are in the 50th percentile, while his length is in the 25th. He's a little short and Ryan likes to jokingly call him our bowling ball.
While he hated the first couple weeks of sponge bathing, Dax loves taking a real bath! He likes to hang out in the warm water and just watch Ryan and I as we clean him up and talk to him. He is so observant now and I love watching him check out his surroundings. Daxton also enjoys being naked now, although for the first few weeks he hated it! He is a pretty chill and easy going baby, Ryan and I can't believe how lucky we are! We love our little man sooo much!
This is a picture Ryan took of him after his bath last week. We love it! Dax loves to snuggle up next to us whenever he gets out of the bath, we know it's because he is cold but even when he isn't cold Daxton loves to cuddle. I spend all morning and night cuddled up with him while we are waking up and getting ready for bed!

My First Blog Post

I have decided to take a stab at blogging after reading and enjoying several of my friends' blogs. My life has recently taken some amazing turns and I'd like to share some of the ensuing adventures with anyone who cares to read about them! Well...here I go!!
Daxton is 20 days old today! So far I have really enjoyed being a mom and getting to hang out with my little man all day!
Ryan did a great job celebrating my first mother's day by making me breakfast, buying me a beautiful necklace, creating a gorgeous bouquet of roses for me, and giving me an awesome foot massage! I never thought that I could love him anymore than I did, but seeing what an amazing father he is to Dax has made me love him even more! He is so tender and sweet with him, I am so proud of him! He has also been extremely helpful while I'm still recovering from delivering our son! He deserves a medal!
Dax's little personality is really starting to develop and we think he has the greatest personality ever! He loves to hear himself "talk" and makes some of the silliest noises while entertaining himself! He is also getting more coordinated and my hair has now been pulled a couple of times at this expense. He is also very strong! Since his first day he has been able to hold his head up pretty well and while he doesn't love 'tummy-time' too much, it's really helping him become even stronger! He can now hold his head up for an extended period of time without bobbling and can set his head down nicely instead of dropping it. We are so proud of him! I could do nothing but stare at him all day long, he keeps me well entertained with all of his facial expressions alone! He especially likes to raise his eyebrows! He also prefers to suck on his hands rather than a pacifier, but we are trying to break that habit since I was an obsessive finger sucker as a small child.
All-in-all he is a wonderful and chill baby! We enjoy sleeping in 3-6 hour blocks through each night (between feedings) and the only time he fusses is when he is hungry or struggling to poop. He is very vocal during his bowel movements! We feel very lucky to have such an amazing child!
